Shauna McGee Kinney provides business development and project support.

Shauna is a fixer and a finisher. Her specialty is translating technical limitations and business requirements into achievable tasks.

Current

In 2025, Shauna started working with Chicago-area SelectGlobal to find workarounds for small-to-medium sized global businesses blocked by rapid changes in global trade.

She works across three scenarios:

Exports to the US blocked by US tariffs

Imports to Australia and Asia from the US blocked by local retaliatory tariffs

Delivery blocked by trade barriers (like increases in shipping costs or country of origin for source materials)

She empowers businesses in Australia, Asia, and the US to leverage small-batch manufacturing to manoeuvre this month’s current trade conditions. SelectChicago consultants complete the just-in-time logistics and activate SME partners in the US to comply with the frequently changing US trade criteria.

Concurrently with her trade work, Shauna is active in the International Institute of Business Administration (IIBA) – Perth Branch and a founding member of the Western Australia AI Hub for small businesses. When the wind is blowing, she can be found racing sailboats at Nedlands Yacht Club (Perth, Western Australia).

History

Shauna studied architecture at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She started her career as field support and a software trainer. Her clients were primarily in automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. The majority of the work was with proprietary software.

As her career progressed, she picked up experience with ICT change control management, ISO 9001 processes and procedures, and end-user communications. She was active with the Society for Technical Communication (STC) – Los Angeles Chapter.

Shauna moved from Los Angeles, California to Perth, Western Australia in 2006. She provided support to web developers, digital marketing agencies (and picked up the nickname “the secret weapon”). She fixed websites, and helped businesses finish websites.

Her family briefly relocated to Seoul – South Korea from 2016-2017. Shauna remotely managed a team of 6 contract copywriters working on Search Engine Optimised text for health and medical businesses in Perth. Upon returning to Perth, she developed business plans and foreign direct investment training and marketing documentation.

From 2016 to 2024, Shauna was an active member of the Rotary Clubs of Seoul (South Korea), Applecross (Australia), and Subiaco (Australia). She assisted the young professionals and youth with volunteer projects.

Shauna picked up a series of short technology contracts in the mining industry, electricity generation, and resources. By 2020 moved into a three year engagement with Qoria (Linewize and Family Zone) content safety software and network appliances for K-12 education. She managed multiple knowledge bases, consolidated content, and set up virtual environments for documentation.

Shauna has business analyst experience in Australian Cyber Security Centre’s (ACSC) Essential 8 in a Western Australian government agency. Her tasks were to organise and complete multiple years of assessments into solution options. She facilitated a series of stakeholder workshops to identify gaps, risks, and prioritise solution options. In collaboration with her project manager, a senior BA, and technical analyst, the team was able to identify streams of work based on scale and complexity.
